The Biggest Reveals from Summer Game Fest 2026

Original digital painting of a packed game showcase arena with a giant glowing stage screen and teal and orange spotlights

Summer Game Fest returned to the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on June 5, 2026 and the two-hour showcase wasted no time. Between long-rumored remakes, genuine surprise revivals and the closing chapter of one of gaming’s biggest remake projects, it was one of the most stacked SGF lineups in years. If you missed the stream, here are the reveals worth knowing about, and, just as importantly, why each one matters.

Everything below is based on what was shown and announced during Summer Game Fest 2026’s coverage. Release windows are as stated at the show and can still change, so treat dates as targets rather than promises.

The Verdict: SGF 2026 was a remake-and-revival lover’s dream. Code Veronica reborn, a real Alien: Isolation sequel and the FF7 Remake trilogy’s finale dated for spring 2027. The catch: most of it is a year or more away.

The headliners

Resident Evil Veronica

Capcom opened the show with a modern reimagining of Resident Evil: Code Veronica, one of the most-requested remakes in the entire series. It was reported as arriving in 2027, and it continues a remake hot streak that has already delivered acclaimed takes on RE2, RE3 and RE4. For longtime fans, Code Veronica has always been the obvious gap in that lineup, so seeing it get the full modern treatment was the reveal of the night for a lot of viewers. The big question now is how Capcom modernizes its trickier dual-protagonist structure, but the goodwill is enormous.

Alien Isolation 2

More than a decade after the original became a cult classic, Alien: Isolation 2 was announced and it drew one of the loudest reactions of the entire weekend. The first game earned huge respect for its tense, stripped-back design, where a single unscripted Xenomorph stalked you through a decaying space station. A proper sequel therefore arrives with a lot of expectation riding on it. Concrete details were light, but for survival-horror fans, the announcement alone was worth tuning in for.

Final Fantasy VII Revelation

Square Enix confirmed Final Fantasy VII Revelation as the final chapter of its Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy, and showed new gameplay featuring fan favorites Cid and Vincent Valentine. It was announced as targeting spring 2027 across PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC. A notably wider launch than the previous entries, which leaned heavily on PlayStation exclusivity. After years of episodic, platform-limited releases, fans finally have a clear end in sight for the reimagined saga. If you’ve been holding off until the trilogy was complete, the finish line is now in view. The flip side for newcomers: this is part three. That’s two large RPGs of homework before launch day.

Guild Wars 3

ArenaNet surprised MMO players by announcing Guild Wars 3, the next entry in its long-running franchise. The studio confirmed the game is heading to PS5 alongside PC. A meaningful console push for a series that has historically been PC-first. With a beta reportedly planned for fall 2027. It’s clearly early days, and ArenaNet kept specifics modest. Still, a brand-new Guild Wars is a major moment for MMORPG fans who have spent years in Tyria.

The Wolf Among Us 2

One of the show’s best revivals: Telltale’s long-delayed The Wolf Among Us 2 was officially re-announced, confirming that the noir adventure sequel is back in active development after a turbulent few years for the studio. The original remains one of Telltale’s most beloved games, praised for its hard-boiled writing and Bigby Wolf’s grim detective work. Its return is a genuine relief for fans who had nearly written it off. If the sequel recaptures that tone, it could be a highlight of whatever year it lands in.

Hot Wheels Infinite Rush

In a genuine left-field swing, Hot Wheels Infinite Rush takes the toy-car franchise open-world for the first time. It’s being developed by Milestone, the studio behind the well-received Hot Wheels Unleashed games, so the pedigree is there. Trading curated, track-based stunt courses for a full open world is a real gamble and the appeal will hinge on whether that freedom feels fun rather than empty. As a family-friendly, all-ages pick, though, it’s an easy one to keep an eye on.

The other showcases’ heavy hitters

The June 5 main show was only part of the story. The surrounding early-June showcases added reveals just as big. Sony’s June 2 State of Play closed with God of War: Laufey, a spin-off starring Kratos’ wife Faye, fighting through the afterlife of the gods. A genuinely fresh angle for the series. The same stream brought Until Dawn 2, a standalone sequel to the beloved cinematic horror game, headed to PS5 in 2027 with a new cast and a tropical-island setting. Over on the June 7 Xbox Games Showcase, Persona 6 was finally announced after years of rumors. Confirmed for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC, with little else revealed so far and Toys for Bob unveiled Spyro: A Realm Beyond, a brand-new Spyro adventure (not a remake) targeting spring 2027. Details on all four are early, so expect much more as the year goes on.

Also worth a look

Beyond the headliners, the reveals kept coming. Capcom announced a fourth year of DLC for Street Fighter 6, headlined by a high-profile crossover guest in Final Fantasy VII’s Tifa. Microsoft’s slice of the weekend leaned on Gears of War: E-Day, and there were fresh looks at titles including Stellar Blade: Blood Rain and Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance. Taken together, it was very much a showcase built on sequels, remakes and revivals rather than bold new IP. A recurring theme for the industry right now.

The bottom line

Summer Game Fest 2026 was a remake-and-revival lover’s dream: Code Veronica reborn, a real Alien: Isolation sequel, the FF7 Remake saga’s finale and the long-awaited return of The Wolf Among Us 2. The catch is patience. Plenty of these are a year or more out, and announced dates have a habit of slipping. But as a statement of what’s coming, it was a strong show with something for nearly every kind of player. Which reveal are you most excited for? Let us know in the comments.
